AVP Business Management Auditor

(Expanding Foreign Bank in Manhattan)

Responsible for executing audit coverage for the Bank’ s US retail and commercial business activities and management functions. Banking activities include retail banking, commercial lending, trade finance and correspondent banking.

The AVP will be expected to drive the audit program enhancements to achieve a strong internal audit function and to meet the enhanced prudential standards of the Federal Reserve. S/he will execute and supervise the audit coverage strategy of business activities and management functions and attendant risks.

The auditor will be responsible for promptly overseeing and reporting on corrective actions, evaluate management action plans and ensure that audit issues are adequately addressed. S/he will also be responsible for updating the audit strategy and program; designing and ensuring the implementation of continuous monitoring of business activities and management functions and attendant risks.

The AVP will be responsible for improving the audit toolset and recommending improvements in automation for departmental performance, including the assessment of risk assessment tools.

We are looking for someone with around 5-7 years of experience in control, risk or audit supporting retail or commercial banking activities with a  particular emphasis on trade finance, commercial real estate, correspondent banking for a banking organization.

Experience should include a baseline understanding of market, credit and operational risks from a control and mitigation perspective. A Bachelor’ s degree is required, a Master’ s degree in a business/quantitative discipline is highly preferred. The ideal candidate should have a proven capability in executing multiple deliverables  preferably within a highly matrixed structure where planning, management and strong interpersonal skills were critical to success.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required with ability to present complex and sensitive issues to senior management, ability to build rapport with internal stakeholders and examiners and experience in ensuring documentary sufficiency of analytical procedures to support audit standards and bank regulatory expectations are all required.

The candidate should also have  experience in applying or evaluating the efficacy of control frameworks US bank regulatory standards, heightened expectations of the OCC, enhanced prudential standards of the Federal Reserve System, among others to banking activities. 

S/he should be familiar with risk applications and metrics for retail and commercial banking, have experience using computer assisted auditing tools or performing computer modeling to evaluate assertions  and a capability and willingness to develop staff on technical and soft skills.

Bilingual Chinese abilities would be a plus.  CFA, CPA, Certification from Global Association of Risk Professionals, PRMIA, bank examiner (large banks) certification or equivalent is a plus.
