Job Summary:
On a daily basis, exercise discretion and independent judgment when setting priorities, planning and establishing work flow to ensure tasks are completed accurately and timely.
  • Maintain a high level of renewal retention on an existing Construction related Book of Business
  • Ability to operate autonomously in a client facing capacity to ensure operational success of assigned Construction accounts
  • Meet service and sales delivery standards and perform essential functions to meet the quality and service standards developed by Sterling Risk
  • Manage, mentor and develop support staff within established agency succession plan
  • Maintain and Develop strong market relationships
  • May be assigned special projects from time to time
Essential Functions:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Marketing of new and renewal business
  • Evaluate existing policies and coverages and make recommendations for improvement as needed
  • Service and develop assigned book of business with established direct and wholesale markets
  • Develop new business opportunities and support in house producers in securing Construction related new business
  • Deliver positive consistent interaction with clients, in house producers, direct markets and wholesalers
  • Prepare and deliver renewal and new business presentations
  • Prepare and deliver renewal and new business presentations
  • Compliance with expiration lists, Agency Management System activities and procedures
  • Identifies exposure to loss and recommends appropriate solutions
  • Delegate appropriate workflow to support staff
  • Adherence, compliance and full utilization of all technology tools (i.e. EPIC, Outlook, etc.)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Construction related insurance rating and underwriting procedures
  • Knowledge of Construction insurance products and applications
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure either independently or as a team member
  • High degree of professionalism and motivation
Education and/or Experience
  • Four Year college degree in insurance preferred or a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Construction insurance industry
  • NYS Property & Casualty Broker’ s License (any other states where appropriate)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word EPIC, etc
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Ability to interpret abstract information
  • Knowledge of insurance products and usage
  • Knowledge of insurance markets and reference to markets
  • Knowledge of insurance rating and underwriting procedures
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Detailed orientated
  • Ability to multi-task

Supervisory Responisbilities
  • This job has a high level of supervisory responsibilities as it relates to mentoring, training, and directing the work of the Associate Account Executives, Account Specialist and other support staff as needed
