AVP Hedge Fund Analyst 

Our client, an International Asset Management Firm seeks an individual who will play an active and important role in pre-investment strategy research, manager investment and operational due diligence, and post-investment due diligence and reporting. This work will cover various hedge fund strategies and managers.

  • Provide pre and post investment due diligence on the funds using quantitative analysis including rolling performance analysis, risk measurement analysis, portfolio optimization and regression analysis.
  • Conduct operational due diligence on fund operations and administrators to assess operational and organizational risks when proposing potential new investment recommendations and monitoring current investments.
  • Using qualitative and quantitative analysis, prepare and present new fund investment proposals to the investment committee by evaluating a fund’ s strategy and suitability, investment process, risk management and investment risks.
  • Using qualitative and quantitative analysis, monitor and update Firm’ s conviction on current hedge fund investments by focusing on fund’ s investment process, portfolio construction, risk management, performance persistence, and diversification benefits to the multi-manager portfolio. This includes analysis of a fund’ s management team, their approach to risk management, and transparency.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring on the portfolio of hedge funds by tracking funds’ holding positions, reviewing performance data and communicating with funds on a regular basis, often including monthly calls and regular on-site visits.
  • Assist Portfolio Manager in proposing allocation changes and provide risk characteristics and performance data to help determine a fund’ s suitability in the portfolio.
  • Compose monthly performance reports summarizing the market environment and describing performance drivers and detractors of the portfolio.
  • Research the macro and market environments and identify strategies that align with the Hedge Fund team’ s outlook and portfolio management.
  • Prepare reports on manager and allocation changes in the portfolio that are used in the monthly Investment Committee meeting.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring on the external fund of funds investments.

  • Bachelor’ s degree; MA, MBA and/or CFA preferable but not necessary. International experience is a plus, along with mathematical skills and experience with statistical analysis.
  • At least 3-5 years of Hedge Fund investment experience with a passion in financial markets and investments; knowledge of various Alternative Investment strategies is a plus.
  • Fluency in English is required. Other language ability is welcome.
  • Strong command of MS Office software and advanced Excel; proficiency with Bloomberg and related automated research tools. Familiarity with Albourne and Pertrac, or willingness to learn is helpful.
  • Outstanding analytical, financial modeling, clear and concise written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Detail oriented, pro-active and able to excel in a highly collaborative global team.
  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically, as required.
  • Ability to work overtime, as required. (The team has around four video/conference call meetings a month that take place in the NY evening due to time differences. You will be expected to join these meetings.)
