Our client, located in the Philadelphia PA area,  is a Supplier to the Automotive Industry  and as a result of continued growth has added a Senior Manager of International Logistics to their staff. This role  will improve their International operations as they continue to expand their  business and be  responsible for leading the International Logistics operations and support the import of product throughout the worldwide Products network.  The candidate will be business savvy, with the ability to self-educate to keep current in the evolving International Logistics arena.  This person will be comfortable conversing with every level of the organization, building organizational relationships with the many internal customers while working collaboratively to reach resolution.  The ability to understand the trade-offs associated with Supply Chain decisions and understand the complexities of performing business internationally will be critical.

This position will: Manage the day-to-day international operations and Trade Partners (ocean freight, drayage, brokers, freight forwarders, air freight etc) associated with flowing product from client  supplier base (approx 350 suppliers across 20 countries) to their  North American Distribution centers
  • Understand and manage the trade-offs between costs, service and inventory associated with various flow paths (transload, CFS, North American ports of entry, port to port/port to door etc). Create the strategy for importing product throughout the supply chain network, taking into account service requirements, cost models, flow path optimization tools, customs and compliance, and replenishment needs.
  • Work with Trade Partners in pursuit of continuous process improvement, enhancing reporting, visibility, data integrity, SOP etc.  Create / maintain policies or procedures for logistics activities as needed or required
  • Communicate with foreign based offices, Suppliers and forwarders for timely booking and shipment communications
  • Stay abreast of market conditions (ocean freight, domestic drayage/trucking, international airfreight) and best practices to develop and execute strategies to flow product in the most economical manner
  • Be accountable for KPIs associated with International Logistics, including cost as a percentage of purchases, on time performance, accessorials, utilization, volume etc
  • Work effectively with cross functional partners (e.g. procurement/supply chain and the distribution centers) to develop and execute end-to-end logistics strategies and manage the day to day
  • Assist in negotiating and managing contracts associated with the International Supply Chain (ocean, drayage, brokers, freight forwarders)
  • Provide leadership and support to direct reports by motivating, evaluating and developing them for future growth.  Establish a working environment that encourages knowledge sharing, relationship building and innovation.


Specific experience includes:
  • Bachelor’ s Degree
  • 8-10 years of supply chain experience with a medium size ($500K to $2B dollar company) including 6+ years of international logistics and distribution experience.
  • Experience working with NVOs, ocean carriers, drayage companies, freight forwarders and customs house brokerage firms.
  • Experience working within an SAP environment a plus
  • Knowledge of import trade compliance a plus

Dan McNichol

Dan McNichol comes to Adams Consulting Group with more than 22 years in the banking and software industries. Dan also has over 15 years in the recruiting industry, in which includes a previous association with Len Adams at KPA Group. As a banker Dan started his career with Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co. as a management trainee in the International Funds Transfer Division. He eventually moved on to two regional banks where he ran various international operations groups including Letter of Credit, Collections, FX and Funds Transfer. During his tenure with National Community Bank (n/k/a Bank of New York), Dan was part of team that assisted in the trade services group migration from a manual to an automated environment. The opportunity to expand his technical skills provided an ensuing opportunity to move to the vendor side of trade services.
